September 14th, 2016– Lubbock Sports Medicine is a proud to share that ImPACT, the most widely-used and most scientifically-validated computerized neurocognitive concussion management tool available, is the first medical device of its kind to receive U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) de novo clearance. FDA clearance has been granted under Computerized Cognitive Assessment Aid for Concussion, a new category for a device that uses an individual's score(s) on a battery of cognitive tasks to provide an indication of the current level of cognitive function in response to concussion. FDA de novo clearance signifies ImPACT has met the FDA's premarket requirements to demonstrate accuracy, validity, and reliability for concussion management and specifically states that ImPACT will "aid in the assessment and management of concussion.”
We are proud to be the only ImPACT credentialed consultants on the South Plains and strive to offer the best resources for all injured athletes within our area. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call our offices for more information.

February 24th, 2016 - Lubbock Sports Medicine is proud to offer continuing education for our athletic trainers on the South Plains via our monthly academic sessions. Stan Kotara, PA-C and Mendy Wyatt ATC/LAT worked in unison to initiate these learning opportunities for the healthcare professionals that care for your student-athletes at the high school and university levels. This past week, our Kerry Wimberley ATC/LAT from Lubbock Sports Rehab led a group through a comprehensive assessment of the throwing shoulder then delved into rehabilitation techniques for our overhead athletes (softball, volleyball, baseball & tennis). With the Spring sport seasons in full swing, this presentation was provided at the perfect time to bolster the knowledge of athletic trainers for possible injuries our athletes will face this time of year. Be sure to reach out to us at Lubbock Sports Medicine/Rehab for all your orthopedic needs this Spring and good luck to all those student-athletes on the court and diamonds!
