Benjamin Johnson, PA-C, returned to Lubbock Sports Medicine as a physician assistant in the summer of 2014.  He previously served as the clinic coordinator for Dr. Scovell as a certified athletic trainer.  Ben attended Stephen F. Austin University and graduated in 2005 with his Bachelors of Science degree.   He then attended the Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) in 2008, earning his Master degree in Athletic Training.  He spent four years with Dr. Scovell before attending and graduating from the University of North Dakota's Physician Assistant program.
Ben works primarily with Dr. Field Scovell and is closely involved in all aspects of their patient's care.  Ben sees patients in the office, assists in all surgeries, and help with other regular duties including sports event coverage, education, and research.  He helps with the care of the Texas Tech Men and Women's basketball teams, the Texas Tech Women's soccer team, and several area high schools including Lubbock Cooper, Estacado, New Deal, Lockney, and many others. 

In addition to his role in the clinic, Ben has also been active with the Master of Athletic Training program at TTUHSC, serving as a guest lecturer and preceptor and has spoken at different conferences, including Southwest Athletic Trainer's Association convention.

Ben and his wife, Erin, live in Lubbock with their son, Jacob.
